Case Study:
The case involves allegations against Mom. Mom had been prescribed medication that caused her to experience severe adverse effects including mood swings and behavioral changes. A mandated reporter filed different reports of neglect against Mom for the alleged inability to provide adequate care to children. This was highly unsettling to both Mom and Dad because they love their daughter very much. DCF took all statements and twisted them based on hearsay, and unfortunately put Mom and Dad in position to potentially lose children.
Dad first learned about Attorney Seaver from a former law professor, and was elated to team up with Attorney Seaver shortly after. Hiring Attorney Seaver allowed Mom and Dad to breathe again. Meetings were no longer stressful because they had realized they did nothing wrong after walking through the situation with Attorney Seaver. With Attorney Seaver’s help, DCF understood that Mom was not the caretaker of the child when the false statements were made so there was no risk of neglect. The statements attributed to Mom were not found to be true and were fabricated. Every witness and document disproved the allegations brought about by the Department.
From that point forward Mom and Dad acknowledged DCF’s concerns and worked in spirit of cooperation. Attorney Seaver contacted witnesses and collaterals who corroborated Mom and Dad’s story. All collaterals assured DCF that statements were false and that Mom was not a caretaker. The Department unsupported the Decision and closed the case. Mom returned to the home in good spirits and everyone went home happy.
