Ray Comperiati
I earned my J.D. from New England Law | Boston, where I was a Sandra Day O’Connor Full Tuition Merit Scholarship Recipient. I graduated with concentrations in both Business and Family Law. I am certified in Business Compliance and Risk Management and have been a licensed practicing Attorney since May 2023.
Since law school, I have worked as a paralegal and now an Attorney at the Law Office of Kevin Patrick Seaver. I have represented clients across the state of Massachusetts who have been falsely accused of abuse or neglect by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). This includes guiding clients through the DCF appeal process and ensuring their rights are protected at every stage. I have appeared before the Massachusetts District Court and the DCF Fair Hearing Unit.
During law school, I pursued a variety of interest areas, concentrating on both business and family law. A pivotal experience was my involvement as a 3:03 Certified Student Attorney with the NEL|B Family Law Clinic, where I managed cases related to parents rights against DCF and DCF parental alienation issues. This role involved collaborating with co-counsel, working directly with clients, and navigating complex scenarios like the DCF investigation process and understanding what are my rights during a DCF investigation.
While interning at TKCK, I expanded my expertise into investigating novel workers’ compensation law issues, drafting research memoranda, and attending remote court appearances. This period was instrumental in deepening my understanding of the DCF appeal process and the intricacies involved in how long DCF can keep a case open.
Prior to law school, I earned a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Sociology from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, with a focus on courses in constitutional law, which later proved invaluable in comprehending the DCF policies and procedures. My internship at Sandelands Eyet LLP provided my first exposure to legal frameworks surrounding DCF supervised visits and DCF fair hearings, cementing my decision to pursue a legal career.
In my free time, I balance my indoor interests, like playing video games, with outdoor activities such as hiking. I’m also a coffee aficionado, dreaming of one day opening a café here in Boston. This dream parallels my professional goal of advocating for parents guide for fair hearings and enhancing DCF grandparents rights in Massachusetts. My time as a Server and Expediter at the Red Oak Grille also taught me the importance of detailed preparation, akin to maintaining a DCF home visit checklist in Massachusetts and knowing how to get DCF records in Massachusetts.
