Case Summary:
The case deals with accusations of neglect of three children by Mom and Dad as well as Grandma. There were allegations in the past that Dad hit Mom, and other conflicting allegations that it was Mom that hit Dad. None of these claims were found to be true, however DCF based neglect upon these claims. There were also claims of substance abuse that Child fabricated to the DCF social worker. DCF painted them in the most negative light, taking out sections of the interviews with Mom and Dad and making false claims about their relationship. This ultimately led to the supporting of neglect.
Accusations of neglect were deeply unsettling to the parents because they loved each other very much. They didn’t understand the DCF process, and all the questions they answered ended up being more incriminating than informative. Mom and Dad considered muddling through their investigation alone, but they were terrified of losing my children.
