Did DCF Show Up? Reaching Out To Attorney Seaver Saved My Life
“I learned that I was involved with the Department of Children and Family Services when the social worker at the hospital announced, after speaking to my wife for a short period of time, “Oh, by the way, I have to also file a report with Department of Children and Family Services.”
When this happened, everything in my world changed. I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t eating. I was worried constantly. Anytime I heard a noise outside, I wondered if somebody was suddenly at my door to try to take my daughter away. And it overtook everything in my life because all I wanted to do was protect my daughter. I was afraid DCF was showing up at my door, possibly with a warrant. Or worse, without a warrant and just an allegation, to take our daughter.
What I did to prevent DCF from showing up at my door and to keep my daughter safe, was to reach out to Attorney Seaver because I needed somebody who was knowledgeable of the DCF system but also, who was willing to go fight. I found Attorney Seaver because I attended law school and I reached out to one of my professors, who was the person who taught me family law. And it’s not what I did for a living while I was at school or… You know, I just graduated so. I said, “Who is the best in the state? I don’t care who it is, what they cost. There was no better feeling in the world because you were so scared weeks ago that they were coming to your door to take your child and now you have this weight lifted off your shoulders. And you just… I slept better that night than I had in many weeks knowing that DCF was out of our lives, our daughter was going to be safe, and that we could move on with our lives. And we couldn’t have done all that without Attorney Seaver every step of the way.
If you are thinking about not calling Attorney Seaver or any attorney and handling this yourself, you’re doing yourself a disservice. This isn’t a moment for any kind of doubt. You need help. Can you do it on your own? Probably. Should you do it on your own? Definitely not. That no matter what fear I felt, I felt always that Attorney Seaver was behind me, shielding me from the entire weight of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If you’re hesitating about how much it costs. You can always regret later. You can always cry later on that if you’d only paid a small sum of money for some peace in your life and your child in your home as opposed to losing your child to the state.
If my daughter had been taken by the state and thrown into the foster care system, my daughter would have been being raised by people who didn’t love her. Somebody can say that they love your child. Somebody can say that they’ll be good to your child. But if my child was in the foster care system, I have a deep love that aches for my daughter. And somebody else, foster parent, may be kind to them but they’re never going to have that kind of love that we feel for her. The loss that we would have felt if they had come and taken her would have been immeasurable. My daughter in foster care system, it’s a fear that I’ve never felt before. It’s a fear that I’ve never experienced before.
And it’s a fear that Attorney Seaver [inaudible] that my fear suddenly was less likely to happen. That I now had hope that this wasn’t going to happen. I had hope that my daughter was going to be with us. I had hope that that love we felt for our daughter would still be there in our house, that we didn’t have to love her from afar in a foster home.
I’d rate Attorney Seaver to be a five-star lawyer and if they would give me ten stars, I would double it. Because Attorney Seaver got me the result I wanted and needed. He did it efficiently and let me know every step of the way. He made sure that our family was taken care of. He called me on Friday night to make sure that my wife was okay and make sure that I was taking care of her because that was important to Attorney Seaver; that we were okay as people.
